Multiterm entries created via the Editor "Add New Term/Quick Add New Term" saved as created by "Local" or Windows user name but not local user name I chose

Hello,

All the entries I create in Multiterm via the editor are saved as created by "Local" and sometimes even  my Windows user name, but never the local user name I chose in Multiterm. If I create term directly in Multiterm, they show as created by "Myname". Why is that and can it be changed so that entries coming from the Editor are also saved by "Myname"?

Thanks.

  • Hi Beatriz,

It seems to be an "unwanted feature" ;-) I have reported this to our product team and it has been logged for resolution so we have the same results no matter which way you choose to create terms. I can't give you any timescales on this but will post back in here once I know more.

  • Hello Paul,
Thanks for your answer. I appreciate it.
I have an additional question for you, still regarding the Windows username. I am using Windows 8.1 with Studio 2014. In the Editor, I have set under File/Setup/Users my TM User ID as Beatriz and it always shows like that when I check it. However, units are being saved with the name of the computer + Windows username, so sth like (I´ve replaced part of it with xxxxx for this message): DELL-LAPTOP/xxxxx_000, and not the TM User ID. When I saw that, I changed the name of the computer to Beatriz, I´d rather have Beatriz/Beatriz (unfortunately cannot change the Windows username xxxxx_000), but to no avail, everytime I open Studio I have to go back to Users and edit the profile to change the name from DELL-LAPTOP/xxxxx_000 to Beatriz (TM User ID shows always correctly set as Beatriz). What´s most strange is that if I save a segment in Editor for the first time I´ll get the computer name+Windows username+sometimes TM User ID. But if I edit an existing segment, then it´s correctly saved just with my TM User ID. So, in a nutshell, my units are being saved with just every possible combination of Computer name, Windows username and TM User ID. Most annoying since I need to share them with other colleagues. Any idea why it´s happening or how to solve it? By the way, iIt also happens with Multiterm entries created via the Editor (they can randomly be saved as" local"," xxxxx_000" or "Beatriz". Thank you.
  • Hi Beatriz,

The TM User ID update is controlled by the setting elsewhere.  This question was asked yesterday here.

  • Hello Paul,
Thanks for your answer. Did not see that reply. Sorry.
Unfortunately I still have the same problem. Even though the TM User ID shows correctly in the setting you mention, the units confirmed for the first time appear as created by "name of computer/TM User ID", and the moment I edit that same unit or any other and confirm it again they change to just TM User ID, which is what I want. So I guess once I finish every translation, I will just have to run the document through a quick Ctrl +Alt+Enter so that all units show as created just by my TM User ID. Not a big deal. Thank you anyway.
