Ok, there was a helpful thread 3 years ago explaining how to unlock locked entries:

If you have Microsoft Access, open the Termbase and delete the content from the mtLocks table
* Make sure you backup your Termbase just in case

Works great, locked items disappear. But the error when creating a new entry persists.....

This article is of great help, Lydia! Thanks for sharing. The problem I am having now is that I cannot add new terms directly from Trados.... I have to do it manually in the app window....

Yulia Kovalskaya glad it was of help. 

With regards to adding terms on the fly within Trados Studio - which you say you cant do.

Please try the following:

1. Open MultiTerm and reorganise your Termbase. Instructions for this was within the article I referenced 

2. Ensure MultiTerm and Studio are both updated and the version numbers are in synch

I followed your advice and reorganized my termbase.

However, the problem persists. There are two options: add term and add term immediately (or similar). So, the first option opens the new entry window and works properly (the term is saved in the database).

However, the second option, though shows no mistake when clicking, does not actually send the term to the file. I checked it in Multiterm via normal search, they are not there. 

Would be great to have this second option, I used it often, but then...can live without it.

Could the recent update to SR1 be the reason? (I updated both, Studio and Multiterm).

There seems to be an issue with Quick Add New Term feature. Please read this post; if applies to you, there are some workarounds:

 Terms not registered automatically when hitting "quick add term" 

Thanks, Jesus! I am always in the Default-layout mode actually...

But I can live without the Quick-add function, now I have another important issue with the termbase.
