Importing an xml file into a new termbase

I have been sent an XML file that I would like to import into a new termbase. I have created the termbase and imported the xml file but when it starts to import it says there are 0 entries. Any ideas?

  • Hi Karen,

If you want to import a multiterm xml file into a new termbase the first thing you have to do is make sure that the termbase has been built to match the contents of the xml. Multiterm termbases can look like anything you can possibly imagine! So you would create the termbase using the definition file and then once you had done that you import the xml.

The Glossary Converter can scan the xml file and make an assumption about the definition, so it provides a means to create the termbase even if you don't have a definition file available. Just drag and drop the xml file into the converter and make sure you have it set to output a termbase.

    Regards
