How to handle tabs and line breaks in a tmx file?

When translating an XML file in Trados Studio 2021 I encountered an issue with line breaks and tabs.

The file contains strings such as this:

\n\t\tSamsung: Anynet+ \n\t\tLG: Simplink \n\t\tSony: Bravia sync \n\t\tPhilips: EasyLink \n\t\tSharp: Aquos Link \n\t\tPanasonic: HDAVI Control, EZ-Sync o VIERA Link \n\t\tToshiba: CE-Link o Enlace Regza

These \n (line breaks) and \t (tabs) are not processed by the filter.

Is there any way to process it as such? All help is appreciated!

I went over the options in the filter, but could not find a solution.

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide more details about the steps you have taken to try and resolve this issue. Also, it would be helpful to know if there have been any recent changes to your system or software.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

Based on your query, it seems like you're having trouble with line breaks and tabs not being processed correctly in Trados Studio 2021. This could be due to the settings in your XML filter. Here's what you can do:

Step 1: Open Trados Studio 2021.

Step 2: Go to "File" > "Options" > "File Types".

Step 3: Find and select "XML" from the list of file types.

Step 4: Click on "Edit..." to open the XML file type settings.

Step 5: In the "Parser rules" section, ensure that the rules are set to correctly process line breaks and tabs.

Step 6: If necessary, you can add new parser rules to handle these characters.

Also, as mentioned in the context, you should uncheck the 'Process embedded content found in document structure information' option in the Trados Studio settings under 'Embedded Content'. This setting may have been enabled for a previous project and can cause issues with the display of special characters if not disabled.

I hope this helps! If you're still having trouble, please provide more details about the issue and any steps you've already taken to try and resolve it.

You'll get a better answer from someone if you provide a snippet of the XML inside a well formed and complete XML.  You don't need to provide the full file, just make sure there is enough of it so if you get some help you'll be able to implement it yourself.

The AI response is accurate too, but without you providing better context you won't get a better answer.
