Has anyone tried to translate files from MarkdownPad?

Hello all,

I have a client who has sent me files from an application called MarkdownPad. The file extension is .md and I'm wondering if anyone has found a way to translate these in Studio? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Paul, I've read your post and learned quite a bit! I've been using Trados for many years, but am a beginner when it comes to regex and creating file types. Forgive me if this is a super basic question, but would either of you be able to tell me how I can tell Trados what text to read as translatable? This needs to go under the "Document structure" section, no? I tried filling in the regex for the "Inline tags" section, but the document was marked as reference. So I added some expressions in the Document structure, and managed to get it as "translatable" but got 0 words and no segments to display. Sorry if I'm hijacking your post, Mindy. I'll create a new one if you'd prefer, but I figured I'd start here, since you both know much more about this than I do!
  • Hi Beatriz,

Doh... completely forgot when I read your other post that *.md was a markdown filetype! Sorry, will go and update that one in a minute.

However, it would still be useful to have a sample. The idea here is that the regex filetype will take everything as translatable, and then you specific which parts you don't want to be translated by using regular expressions.

    Make sense?

    Regards

    Paul
