Adding a term to a termbase unbelievably slow

When I add a term to a term base using either the menu functions Add New Term or Quick Add New Term, the Termbase viewer comes up and does zillions of rewrites, first for all terms listed in the view (starting from the first term in the Termbase (sic)) and then repeating the whole rewrite process for each term around the term added - in some cases the rewrite process is even repeated for a third time!! During all these rewrite phases - can last about 5-6 seconds on my fast PC, nothing else can be done but wait. Improving this behaviour by cancelling the rewrits could make a huge performance boost!

  • Hi Henk,

Thanks. That makes it very clear now!
The position of your "Termbase Viewer" seems a little odd. From what I can see it is overlapping with the Term Recognition window. This might be part of the reason for the slowness.

If you don't mind, I would select View > Reset Window Layout to reset all the windows to their original positions and then try to add a term.
You could also go to View, click on Termbase Viewer and move it somewhere else. For example moving it to the bottom of the screen for example.

Let me know if that helps at all.
