Adding a term to a termbase unbelievably slow

When I add a term to a term base using either the menu functions Add New Term or Quick Add New Term, the Termbase viewer comes up and does zillions of rewrites, first for all terms listed in the view (starting from the first term in the Termbase (sic)) and then repeating the whole rewrite process for each term around the term added - in some cases the rewrite process is even repeated for a third time!! During all these rewrite phases - can last about 5-6 seconds on my fast PC, nothing else can be done but wait. Improving this behaviour by cancelling the rewrits could make a huge performance boost!

  • Hi Henk,

1 to 2 seconds is the same here, so I think that what you have now is the intended behavior.
Now also keep in mind that this window is the Termbase Viewer. When you open a termbase, it always starts with the first entry. Trados studio is simply automating the process of opening the termbase and adding a term manually. In other words, what you are seeing now is the exact same thing as if you would do it manually. Having said that, they could hide the window and only display it after the term is added. Maybe someone from SDL will look at this thread and consider it for the future.
