Using xlf files in Trados Studio 2015

Question

Hello, 
 I know that there have been previous discussions on this topic but it is still unclear to me how to proceed. 
 A client has sent me an xlf file and the xls source file, I have no idea how to use the xlf file with Trados 2015. 
 Could some please explain how to use this file type with Studio 2015?

Do you mean sdlxliff or xlf? If you mean the latter then where did it come from? Which CAT tool was used to perform the original conversion to xlf?

ok - in this case you just handle the XLF with the default filetype. So create a project, or translate single document as you would for any file. Once complete the easiest thing is just press Shift+F12 with the file open in the editor and you can save the target file wherever you like. The target will be an XLF.
