Using xlf files in Trados Studio 2015

Hello,

I know that there have been previous discussions on this topic but it is still unclear to me how to proceed.

A client has sent me an xlf file and the xls source file, I have no idea how to use the xlf file with Trados 2015.

Could some please explain how to use this file type with Studio 2015?

    ok... in the meantime you'll probably find that Studio will open an XLF file anyway. Just treat it the same as you would any file you were translating and it will be picked up immediately. Only reason I asked which CAT tool is because this may determine whether you need to take a different approach to achieve better results. But the default does work remarkably well.

    Important point to note however is that whichever way you do this you will not be able to recreate the target Excel file. Only the CAT that created the XLF will be able to do this. So the Excel file is useful for you as a reference file only.
