File pre-scanning error when creating project

Hi all

The following warning messages were generated when trying to import files into a new project:

"PreScanning failed to identify file type, the following messages were generated:

PreScanning Error The document is not bilingual since 'tw4winMark' style is not defined."

I am perplexed, since the file is  a normal .doc file, and it should not be bilingual as I have not yeat started translating.

I would appreciate any help.

Regards,

Suvi

  • This style is only used to format the so called markups between segments in bilingual Word files. When you translate a Word file with Workbench, the text looks then like this:
    {0>Source text{<0>}Target text{<0}
    where the {...} are markups formatted with TW4winMark and having different color than the rest of the text and being formatted as hidden text.

    When Studio finds such style in the style list of a Word document, it simply assumes the text is bilingual, ie. has the structure shown before. If however such structure is not being found, error messages will be generated. To let process Word documents without bilingual structure, but containing this style, you can select the settings - in that case a file with the style TW4WinMark will be processed as a plain Word text. However, if next time a proper bilingual Word file shall be opened and this setting is activated, this will result in another error messages, as Studio does now NOT expect the bilingual structure, which it indeed then finds.
