Was the source a converted PDF-DOC file?
Please try to resave source in a different format, preferably DOCX.

Please also check which version you have. I know of instances where this error occurred that have been solved in Studio 2011.
I suggest you upgrade to the very latest version and try again.
No, it's not a converted PDF-doc. The source is MS Word. The format is docx. The Trados version is Studio Pro 2009.
I would still love to hear a few suggestions apart from upgrading.

Then save as DOC.
Studio 2009 is indeed not that reliable, but a format switch may be very helpful here.

I'm not spoiled for choice here. DOC isn't available.
I should probably save the source DOCX as DOC, pre-tranlate and save it...
This is what I was always talking about.
Maybe I was not clear, but the problem is in source document, so indeed you need to save the source as DOC and then retranlsate.
In my initial post I wrote: "Please try to resave source in a different format, preferably DOCX."
You can also try to use OpenOffice to open the file and save as doc.
