To quote SDL Studio Help, "...batch tasks are the individual tasks which can be run on project files. You can run tasks individually or you can put several of them into a task sequence and run the sequence."

The second part of the last sentence above refers to the 'Batch tasks' that are selected as a sequence to be performed when creating a new project, as here:

'Prepare' is the Task Sequence that I think you need to achieve what you describe. You can select the memory/ies you want to use and then a project memory will be automatically created for each of them.

But the meaning of Batch tasks is wider than that... As in the first half of the last sentence I "quoted" above, you can run individual 'Batch tasks'...

You can access the individual 'Batch tasks' two ways in the Projects View, which is accessible via the buttons bottom left of your Studio screen:

The first way is to highlight the Project you want to perform a task on if it is listed in the Projects View then click on the Batch Tasks down arrow in the Home ribbon, as here:

A dropdown menu appears: 

The second way to access this dropdown menu of 'Batch tasks' is to right-click on the project you want to affect, in the Projects list (if it's not in the list, you can access it first via 'Open Project'). 

When you right-click on a project in the Projects view, a dropdown menu appears with a list of what you can do to that project. One of the items you can select here is 'Batch tasks' and then the list you see in the image above will appear.

It is also possible to perform each of the individual components of the batch tasks in other ways without using the dropdown, for example when a file is open but that is definitely too much information!
