Project Package Error (Dependency file not found)

 Hi,

I've made some packages for translators to work on, but when they open the package, this error occurs on their computer: Dependency file not found...

This error is normal when you don't have the dependency file in your computer, but is it normal for a translator that received the package?

Thanks in advance,

Alireza

  • You need to integrate the source file(s) again in your SDLXLIFF files.
Then check your anti-virus and Internet security solution. It is most certainly set up to delete Windows temporary files and causes this kind of errors. For example Norton solutions do that. You need to switch this "feature" off, so then you will not get such errors in the future anymore.
Same applies to the translators machine - if he/she opens the package and works on that, the anti-virus software deletes the TMP files and this problem occurs.

  • Thanks for your quick reply.
I'm not using any anti virus, just the windows 10 defender, and this error never happened to me, but to the translators I work with. When user open the project package in Studio, it extracts the required files, but the dependency file isn't one of them. How could this happen? In my opinion, this error for a package is weird, because the translator just need to translate the project, then send the return package.
  • Of course is the dependancy file in the package - it is integrated in the SDLXLIFF. Studio opens the SDLXLIFF and dumps the dependancy file into the TMP folder. When closing the SDLXLIFF the dependancy will be then again written into it in zipped format. Is the dependancy in the meantime deleted, no file can be written and the error occurs next time when opening the SDLXLIFF. Advise your translator to check his anti-virus and switch of deleting the files in Windows TMP folder.
