After Trados 2015 s3 update, I go back into studio and it tells me I have another update?

Hi there

I have just updated from SR2 to SR3 for TRADOS studio 2015.   I was told it was successful at the end of the process but also when I (a) right clicked on properties from the desktop and saw that it says 'Properties of .... SR3' and of course (b) when I opened it and it said at some point it's sr3.  However, I am now being told after going into it, to start a job, of another upgrade (program: World server components version 4.3.5262.0 to version 4.3.5265.0).  Do I have to upgrade again? I have a job to do and would rather get on with it.

Also, the download of version sr3 does not appear in my download folder.  The version in my download folder is still SR2 from last year.  Does this mean anything?

Is there a version sr3 for multiterm?  Or is still sr2 even when trados has moved onto sr3?

Thanks in advance

  • Thanks Cristina, I did not notice the CU10 after sr3 but anyway, it's fine and I've been able to work. Do you know why my download of SR3 is not showing up in my downloads though? That's kind of strange. Same with the MuliTerm I downloaded today.
  • Hi
yes thanks but I can see that it worked as I said but I was wondering why it did not show up in my pc laptop's download folder. I was not referring to my sdl account under the downloads heading as you pointed out by logging into my account (I don't think it was entirely necessary to do that). I obviously should have stressed my pc's downloads folder as the section in my sdl account entitled download might be considered a 'folder' by other sdl community users.

    Anyway, case closed. Thanks.
  • ok - my apologies for misunderstanding that one. I removed the post, although there was nothing in there specific to you... exactly the same for all users with 2015 in their account.

I have no idea why it would not appear in your download folders. Perhaps, as this happens to me sometimes, you need to go up or down a folder level and then come back into your downloads folder and then it will be visible?

  • Hi there, I am back to you again because when I opened my SDL Trados 2015 today (but did not get as far as opening the job I wanted to resume) I got an auto restart message straight away - 'The update application has been updated and must restart to continue' and when I clicked yes to it, it did its job and then closed Trados. I have just opened it again and got yet another 'The update application has been updated and must restart to continue' message. I clicked close rather than ok and then I was told the application was up to date.

Other than that after I updated to sr3 yesterday, I renamed my SDL Trados 2015 on the desktop by adding sr3 at the end so it's SDL Trados 2015 sr3. After I clicked ok to the first update message mentioned above, and it closed trados on me, I saw both the SDL Trados 2015 and the Trados 2015 SR3 on the desktop. I know after you rename something you still have the original until you delete it so what should I do in this case with the original SDL Trados 2015? Neither version is open on my desktop at the moment.

This is annoying as I want to get on with my work and these messages are just disruptive. I appreciate being told of updates of course but don't want to be bothered the morning after I have obtained the update and already worked with the updated version.

Hope that makes sense. If you need to access my sdl account again to help, which I don't think is necessary here, please let me know in advance.

    Thanks
  • Hi ,

It's not possible to have SR2 and SR3 installed on the same machine at the same time. This is because they occupy the same space and one overwrites the other. Are you sure you are not looking at the installer files?

On the updates. It sounds to me as though they are not properly installing and this is why you get the message every time. You would sometimes see two messages, the first about the installer update (the application that manages the updates) and the second about the actual update itself (the cumulative update for Studio). I think a manual install of the updated may resolve this but given the problems you are having I don't want to try and give you more instructions so please can you log a case and a support engineer will handle this for you.

For licensing or installation issues that prevent you from working we have a route for all customers to get help. This can be achieved really quickly using this link:

  • No, they are both SR3 only. I renamed it SDL Trados 2015 sr3 specifically yesterday so now I have one with the sr3 added to the name and the original sr3 version which I obtained yesterday. I only renamed it for (what I thought was) convenience. As to the other messages, I might have to wait until after I've finished this job to log the case (it's not stopping me working on my current translation task so far). Thanks for that.
