"TranslationProvider ThrewException" when analysing a MS Word document

I am working with Studio 2015, freelance version and installed the latest proposed update yesterday. Today I get the "TranslationProvider ThrewException" error on a Word document (docx). I already had analysed and prepared this same document two weeks ago without any problems for a quote. I have seen the problems with special characters and such, but since it it could be analysed without errors before, this can't be the reason. What else has changed to turn this preparable document into an unusable one? Anyone any idea?

  • Hi

Please can you provide the fill error stack?  Do it like this... first save the error stack to your desktop as an xml file.  Then attach the xml file to your post:

  • Hi ,

Are you trying to open the file from within the project you previously created or are you trying to create a completely new project?

    Thanks

    Paul

  • I am trying to open the file from within an exisiting project.
  • ok - in this case it may be that the project file is corrupted somehow.  If you have not actually translated any of this file yet then I'd recommend you just remove the original project and recreate it.

But if you wish to keep the analysis and the sdlxliff as it is then do this:

    1. Back up the project folder
    2. Remove the existing project you backed up from Studio
    3. Create a new project with the same source files
    4. Copy the new sdlproj that is created into your backed up project so that it overwrites the original sdlproj
    5. Remove the new project
    6. Copy the old backed up one (that now has a new sdlproj) into your projects folder
    7. Open this "repaired" project

    That may help.

  • Thanks Paul for the solutions.

I haven't translated anything yet, so I created a new project. And had the same error again.

Only recreating it without the TM did work. I also could then add the TM to the project. But pretranslating the file got me the same error again. I can, however, open the TM in the TM Editor and search in it just fine.
