However, I DID think that the purpose of Autosave (or one of) was to avoid having to actively remember to save one's work all the time, so I am still surprised that, as Jerzy says, Autosave is only intended for Studio crashes and, as I read elsewhere, Autosave files are only kept in such events as a crash. That might explain why I don't have any. But it would be nice if Autosave could do that for us!
Please do not feel offended, but after over 27 years in business I wonder, that someone can think Autosave would be there to replace the "normal" save procedure. I do not know ANY other software, which would keep the autosaved file, when you close the software and say NO to the prompt for saving.
This said, you problem seems to be a different one. In your case Studio did indeed crash, as the whole computer crashed. Your bad luck will however be, that the crash was of a different kind - power off means, no storing, saving of whatever and all operations started when the power went off are broken or with no results. Is like you would start filling a pot with water when water supply would stop - your pot would remain empty regardless any settings...
When working with Studio, you always should have a TM - otherwise working with any CAT tool does not make the slightest sense. Without a TM any CAT tool is more or less useless. And I'm afraid if you did not have any TM, then there will be no real chance to recover anything.
As for the CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER - AFAIR this shortcut was never used for saving anything. I cannot remember now what it was. In my Studio (2017) it does just nothing. There has also not been any shortcut for "Save all" AFAIR. The plain "CTRL+S" is however still used, so pressing CTRL+S from time to time is a good habit.

Oh, indeed, there still IS "Save all" in Studio:
This is a list of shortcuts I just opened in Studio 2017. So there is Save all and it should work as expected with CTRL+SHIFT+S.
Why it didn't will certainly remain an unsolved riddle.
As for the rest: the forum is not a good platform to discuss advantages and disadvantages of using of a TM or not using it, so I will not argue anymore on that.
To avoid problems with power shortage I use several UPS here, one for my PC (desktop), one for the NAS devices in my office and another one for two more NAS backup devices in the cellar. These will however not secure any laptop with dead battery against unplugging the power cord. Here only a new battery may be helpful.
I hope you did not lose too much work and can recover fast.

Hi Jerzy, I beg to differ with you on that one! I think it's a great place to discuss this sort of thing. I'd be very interested to learn when it's better to work without one because I don't see it either. Even if you don't want the contents you won't get any tokenization if you don't use a TM and that means no sensible autopropagation, number recognision, dates, variables etc.

Paul
