Error message "Cannot find central directory" when trying to add file to project

I use SDL Trados Studio 2014 Freelance on a Macbook Air via Parallels.

I recently copied my files onto iCloud Drive due to lack of space. I got an error message saying I had too many files to do this, but the files were transferred to iCloud Drive anyway, however no copies were left on my Mac. I subsequently installed a larger hard disk and used a Time Machine backup to recover my files.

I'm now having constant problems using Studio. The latest one is the above.

Any help much appreciated.

Andy

  • In that very situation it really seems your installation in Windows has been screwed up somehow.
Secure all YOUR production files, which means:
    - projects
    - translation memories
    - term bases

Then you can wipe out the partition and reinstall Windows & Studio.
But OTOH I always supposed, virtual machines have the purpose of revealing one from the necessity to reinstall, as you can simply take a fresh copy of such machine after first installation and start from there. At lest this is what I expect from my Virtual Box on Windows. I have a clone of my VM just in case the one used would break. Isn't that possible in Apple?
