Inserting italics in the target

Hi all,

I am translating a sentence where italics are needed in the target but not in the source. I'm using SDL Trados Studio 2015 Starter edition and the all the formating options are deactivated, so can't write anything in bold, italics nor underlined. I tried the shortcuts (Ctrl+I) but doesn't work either.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Thanks!

Marga

  • Well, some formats simply cannot support inserting of formatting, because they work in a different way - like XML, where formatting is defined not in a standard way like in Word, but individually by the designer of the format. And on top of this, Starter Edition might be even more limited and not allow any extra formatting at all. I must admit I do not know about the limits of starter.

Does Spanish really require ITALICS for meaning? Wow, I see I have still to learn a lot about languages.
