Not able to add term bases in Studio 2014

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem or knows how to solve this issue.

I use Studio 2014 and since around 3 months ago I'm not able to add term bases to my projects. The screen freezes when I press "Add". I've been told that it could have something to do with a recent Windows update, so I desinstalled the 2 most recent updates, but it still doesn't work.

I wonder if the update changed something in my computer that, even if I deinstall them, it doesn't make any difference, or if it's something completely different. Has anyone else had the same problem? Do you know how to sort it out? It would be very helpful because I'm stuck.

Thanks a lot.

  • Hi  ,

I don't know the answer to this, but I think I'd try making sure windows was fully updated, and then make sure that I had the latest versions of Studio/MT 2014:

    SDL Trados Studio 2014 SP2 - 11.2.4435.12
    SDL MultiTerm 2014 SP2 - 11.2.1379.0

Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\11.0.0.0

Then rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart MultiTerm:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL MultiTerm\MultiTerm11

    See if this helps you.

    Regards

  • Hello Paul,

Thanks a lot for your reply. I just saw it now, as I've been on holidays.

I've checked this and I see that I still have Multiterm SP1 (but SP2 for Trados Studio). I'm checking in internet to see how to do this update, but I can't find it. However, I have the feeling that this shouldn't be the problem, as I've been using it like this for a long time.

I've also checked the file you mention, but I can't find the SDL folder in this route. The only SDL route I see is: C:\Users\Diana\Documents\SDL\SDL MultiTerm

In AppData I can only see this: C:\Users\Diana\Application Data\Microsoft. Except for this "Microsoft" folder, there is no other forder and definitely nothing at all about roaming. Maybe this could be the problem?

Please let me know. I'd very grateful if you have any more ideas about this. I really don't know how to solve this.

    Thanks a lot,

    Diana
