SDL Trados Studio 2009 - ActiveX Controls Error When Launching the Software

Description: SDL Trados Studio 2009

I have recently started to use SDL Trados Studion 2009 after a long time of not using it. when I launch the software, I receive an ActiveX controls error as follow:

"One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because of either:

 1) The current security settings prohibit the use of ActiveX controls on this page.

2) The editor of one of the controls are locked.

As a result, the page may not display correctly."

Clicking "OK" launch the program but I suspect that this is related to the couple of issues that I have detected thus far when using the software:

1- The Help Topics content is blank (empty), both the online and local files

2- The Preview and Real-time preview are not functional. Error message: "The Word document cannot be previewed, please see the error details for more information. Please note that you will need Word 2003 0r 2007 installed to preview .doc files and Word 20007 installed to preview .docx files"

I have Microsoft office 365 (Word 2016) installed.

The "error details" shows the following:

"The associated COM server does not support ActiveXDocumment embedding. ErrorCode -2147217149"

Thank you for your help!

Seriously, is this the best the company has to offer, upgrading to the new platform?

I understand your frustration... perhaps you should downgrade your computer and Office software to use something that is also 8-yrs old?  You might find that you'll have no problems if you do that, but it's unreasonable to expect something that old to continue to work in a much newer environment.

On the help... we moved all the documentation to here:

    http://docs.sdl.com

You won't find anything related to Studio 2009 though but perhaps google is your best bet as there is a lot of information published in various blogs, forums and youtube videos that might help you to solve a particular problem.
