SDL Trados Studio 2009 - ActiveX Controls Error When Launching the Software

Description: SDL Trados Studio 2009

I have recently started to use SDL Trados Studion 2009 after a long time of not using it. when I launch the software, I receive an ActiveX controls error as follow:

"One or more ActiveX controls could not be displayed because of either:

 1) The current security settings prohibit the use of ActiveX controls on this page.

2) The editor of one of the controls are locked.

As a result, the page may not display correctly."

Clicking "OK" launch the program but I suspect that this is related to the couple of issues that I have detected thus far when using the software:

1- The Help Topics content is blank (empty), both the online and local files

2- The Preview and Real-time preview are not functional. Error message: "The Word document cannot be previewed, please see the error details for more information. Please note that you will need Word 2003 0r 2007 installed to preview .doc files and Word 20007 installed to preview .docx files"

I have Microsoft office 365 (Word 2016) installed.

The "error details" shows the following:

"The associated COM server does not support ActiveXDocumment embedding. ErrorCode -2147217149"

Thank you for your help!

It is disappointing to learn that SDL does not stand behind their products. I have been using other software for much longer that 8-years and have always had upgrades/support for them.

I'm wondering why you didn't upgrade your SDL products then?  The option has always been there but you have not taken advantage of it.  You still have the ability to do this now if you wish.  The problem with supporting 2009 is it's simply too old.  If you had taken the available upgrades then you would have been eligible for support and you probably wouldn't be faced with the technical difficulties you are today.
