I experience the same behaviour. I therefore close down the second instance of Studio and open the project from within the first instance. After I have done this a few times, I will remember not to try double-clicking a project ;-)

I guess this is a 'feature' of the latest update and probably not by design. I seem to recall this happening before after another upgrade.

It will hopefully be resolved in another update... Am I right, Paul Filkin?

Also... are the sdlxliff and sdlproj files recognised with the correct icons in windows explorer?  Just wondering if your file associations are all correct... wondering = guessing!  I cannot reproduce this effect whatever I do:

I thought of that and indeed the icons weren't correct (they just had the generic document icon). So I right clicked the project and used 'Open with > SDL Trados Studio to fix it... 

Here's what my icons looked like after that:

eek... I must finish that job (have worked on it since July but my computer died so the above is the backup copy)

Right-clicking on the sdlxliff only offers the 'Translate with SDL Trados Studio option', which then does proceed to opening the file in the currently open version of studio but also starts to create a new 'mini project' as if translating a single file. When it's already part of an existing project that's not useful, especially when proofreading a translated file...

Doesn't bother me, I always open old projects from within Studio.

I will run a Windows Repair on  Studio to see if the behaviour stops... Can't recall if  did this already but it's always worth doing...
