Dependency file not found + Failed to save target content

Hi!

I feel that I have multiple problems with my SDL Trados Studio 2015.

1) It started with "Dependency file not found". I followed some advice, and although I could not do it like I was told to, massage disappeared. But I see that I get error massage for each translation unit, it is about source language, you can see in the window.

2) Now I realized that I can not save target content. "Cannot find central directory".

How can I solve this? My deadline i already here.

Thank you in advance!

Inga

  • Thanks ,

I'm just closing this one off in case it helps someone else. The problem was related to translating a PDF directly which can be very problematic sometimes. Always better to convert to DOCX and work with that instead.

    This is what I did:

    1. I opened the PDF in Studio which creates a DOCX in the background.
    2. I then closed the file and opened the DOCX instead using the new Word filetype in Studio 2015 (which is the Studio version you said you are using)
    3. I then matched my file with the contents of the sdlxliff you gave me. This won’t be perfect as there are bound to be some differences between the way I have done this and the way you did it, not least because of the filetypes.
    4. I then saved a target file… this worked fine.
    5. You then need to fill any gaps from your TM and hopefully all will be well.

    Regards

  • Hello again!

I'm writing here because this issue is somehow related to the previous. Last time I used a week or so to get back translation, but without your help I would have lost everything. Basically I had to go through translation and accept it bit by bit.

Now I have started to translate the next text (same languages). I could not make a useful Word version out of PDF because of specific Icelandic letters. So I have used readable PDF file. PDF have been working perfectly well in other, shorter translations. I'm not sure if this is the real cause to my problem, rather that security settings or antivirus program does something to the temporary files, like you mentioned before.
This time when I open the fil for translation I got the massage that 'dependency file is not found'. But so far I have been able to save the target file. I tried to fix it by my self, looked at your description, but I can't even do the 1. open the PDF in Studio to create DOCX in the background.

    Thank you in advance!

    Best regards
    Inga
  • There is already a DOCX in the background. Just go to your project folder and check the source language subfolder - you should find the DOCX there. When Studio next time asks you to look for the dependancy file, just point the program to that location.
