I cannot open any file for translation.

I cannot open any file for translation. I follow these steps:
I browse to choose a .doc or .docx file in my directory.
I then get to choose to open for translation only.

The "Translation memory and document parameters" window then opens and the software proceeds to ask me the source and target languages, I choose both and when I click on the "ok" button nothing happens.  I cannot get past this step.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you in advance.

  • Hi, sorry about the late reply, but I just came across this issue myself and found this thread. So for whoever will come across this issue in the future:
    I gathered a few suggestions but someone mentioned a compatibility issue between trados and the source document. As my source document was .docx, I found that hightly unikely. However, this seems to have solved it for me:
    Open Studio. On the Welcome screen, click on File and go down to Options. In the Options window, click on File Type. In the right hand side pane in that window, check that all files are ticked. Tick whatever is needed, press OK to come back to the Welcome screen.
    At that point, I relaunched Trados (not sure if it is needed), but the file opened without problem after that.

    ++ UPDATE ++

    Same problem occurred with another file, but completely by chance I seem to have found a solution :

    -select the file you wish to open

    -select your target language

    -SELECT the source language (if it already appears, choose another one, then select the original one)

    The TM pane should appear.
