Turn off keyTips

Good morning, is there any possibility to turn keyTips off in SDL Studio? I use Alt+Tab very often for switching to other programs and when I switch back to the Studio, the keyTips are still ON. When I begin to type, different tabs of the ribbon begin to switch instead of typing in the editor window. It is VERY ANNOYING. I REALLY need to switch off the keyTips so that they are displayed only while I am holding the Alt key! What is the point having to press ESC key TWICE (!) after every return to SDL Studio?

For example, try to switch to another program and back and begin to type a word beginning with "FL" - the result is closing all files being translated!!!!

Is the accessibility really the only reason for that? I think there's only a few people who are translating using only one finger (maybe not a single one) which is IMHO is the only purpose and use of keyTips.

Thank you.

  • Hi Jan,

Me again, I've just read this thread which is similar to the other one you created. Further to what Paul has said, have you tried using a different keyboard to see if a trigger delay on your current keyboard might be the problem?

It is possible but undesirable to disable ALT shortcuts in the Windows Registry but you would possibly not be able to use ALT+TAB then.

Two suggestions depending on what is actually happening, if you have tested this behaviour with an alternative keyboard and it is still happening:

If the ALT key has been pressed and the initial letters of each function are still highlighted - press the ALT key again, then focus should return to wherever you left it in Studio. That works for me, anyway.

The solution when you find the program switching from tab to tab - use TAB plus the Windows key to switch out of the program and back into it.

    All the best,
    Ali
