Persistent error message

Hi, has anyone come across the error message 'could not load file or assembly 'ICUWrapper.dll' or one of its dependencies. The specified module could not be found.'? This message comes up every time I try to open a file in Studio 2017.  Any ideas on how to deal with this would be greatly appreciated.  Many thanks. Henry

  • Hi ,

Have you ever been able to open a file in Studio 2017? If not I wonder if you tried to bring in an old project template perhaps from a previous version?

If that's not the case then when you get unusual error messages the best approach is normally to try a reset first, so give that a go. Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0

So the path would become this:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0_old

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:

    www.howtogeek.com/.../

    See if that helps.

  • Thank you Paul for your suggestion. I have been able to open files in Studio 2017 before. The error message started after I saved an existing TM as a TMX and reimported it into a new TM to change the language settings. If that sheds any light.

I renamed the folder and restarted Studio but the message persists. Do you think it might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling?

    Kind regards,

    Henry
