Error message Impossible de localiser le fichier de données demandé.

Question

Hello, 
 my Studio 2017 crashed a while ago and when I tried to open it again, the error message Impossible de localiser le fichier de donn&eacute;es demand&eacute;. appeared. I've uninstralled it and restarted the pc and reinstalled it (even the newer versions do the same thing) but nothing works. As soon as I try opening a file, Studio starts and before I'm able to even find the file, this message appears and when I click OK, the windows and Studio close. I really need to resolve this problem as it prevents me from using Studio 2017.

You might benefit from a reset. Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio: 
 
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0 
 
So the path would become this: 
 
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0_old 
 
If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders: 
 
 www.howtogeek.com/.../

 I have the exact same problem, Studio 2017 just crashed on me, never happened before... I'm a bit freaked out because I had a big project on it's way, can't afford to lose it all. I tried to find this folder c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0 you mentioned, just can't find it anywhere... Help!!!!! Please.

Hello Isabelle Dube (IsabelleDube) , 
 This is most likely cause of this is that the translation memory cannot be accessed anymore- 
 either because you no longer have access to it (client Server TM) or its no longer available on the network drive. 
 To solve this- 
 1) Go to this location: C:\Users\[YourName]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0 
 2) Find this file: TranslationMemoryRepository.xml and rename it to TranslationMemoryRepository_old.xml 
 3) Open Studio and see if you still experience the issue.
