"an error ocurred while trying to determine the file version"

Hi,

I installed Trados SDL 2017 and the office package 2016 in my new laptop. When I tried to "Create a project of a couple of word doc files" (2016 version), there appears the message "an error ocurred while trying to determine the file version". I already tried restaring SDL Trados, but the same message appears. Could you please help? Thank you! Regards

    Sorry for the delay in the reply!

    Well, as you can see in the screenshot below, the phrase "Default projects template for new users" appears twice. When I click on the first one, there appears the message “an error occurred while trying to determine the file version", so I clicked on the second phrase ”Default projects template for new users" and I could continue, Now I wonder why the same message appears twice. Thank you. Regards

    Go to File -> Setup -> Project templates and check, which path the templates do show, when you hover with the mouse over those.
    Most probably one of these templates is a remedy of a previous Studio installation. Remove this one and the problem will be solved.
    To avoid something like this happening do not copy the templates from the previous version into the template folder of the new version, but use the "Import" button in the template settings instead.
