Studio 2017 doesnt show the terms I translated before in the same document as matches

Hi there,

I have a problem working with Studio 2017.

It happened already couple of times that I had a term or a part of sentence, which I knew I had in the document before and translated it just couple of hours ago! In this case I usually select it in source text and press F3 to search, so that my earlier translated sentence shows in Concordance Search window along with other matches, if any.

But with Studio 2017 I select, press F3 and get "No results". How come??? I know exactly I had this term before. If I look for it with the Text Search, I find it. So why it doesnt appear in Matches?

Having gone through some of the similar questions here, I already disabled Lookahead, checked if TM is being updated - it is, enabled search in both project and main TM (although im not using the project TM), opened and closed Studio several times. No improvement whatsoever. :(

Please, guys, who can help? It really slows down my work and I have a big project with tight timing, so would be really thankful for any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

  • No one is treating you as an idiot. The questions here are always directed to get as much knowledge and understanding of your problem as possible.
You mention F3 - it is vital, that you know, that this toggles the concordance search in the language, on which side the cursor is currently placed. So if you are in source, F3 will search the source, while when in target, it will ONLY search the target! This can be one possible explanation, why no German words are found, if you search from the target side after having copied source to target.
It is much better to use dedicated concordance searches, which are toggled by different shortcuts. From what I remember the source concordance search is CTRL+F3 (but I am not sure, I have changed this years ago).
Next problem is how do you select the words - as already mentioned above, a trailing space is also a part of the search, so it may influence the results.
You have already set the concordance search value to 50%, which is good and should then find results even with the trailing space...
You also asked, what the number of hits means - the number of 30 hits means simply, that the list of results of your concordance search (performed with the match value set in %) will contain 30 hits - or any other number you set there.
