Target files with mixed languages

Hi,

This is the first time I have to handle this kind of problem.

I have created a project from french into english, all the documents have been translated correctly, then I generate the target files.

When i want to open the word document that has been generated by Trados, I can see that i have part of the text in french and other part in english.

The whole text should be in english (as it is in the sdlxliff file).

I do not understand what is going on. I do not know how to fix this problem.

Have you already met this problem ?

Best regards and thank you for your help,

Julie

  • Hi Paul,

Thank you for your quick reply.
I use Sdl Trados 2017, pro version.
And the word filetype is 2007-2016 (.docx).

I have tried what you proposed but it is not working.

    Is there other manipulation?

    Best regards,
    Julie
  • What Paul suggests has always worked for me. Sometimes you need to copy not only the segment, from which the not translated part in target document starts, but also one, two or even three segments before AND after this very segment. Then try to save target (typically SHIFT+F12 or File -> Save target). If that has helped, just undo your actions in Studio. This way you have also the translated text available there and only need to copy & paste it into Word.
Should this not solve your problem, use the Word 2007-2013 file type and retranslate the file from TM.
If even this does not help, remove the page from Word, where the problem starts, save the file under a new name, retranslate via TM. This file should be translated. Paste the text from the removed page into a new Word file, translate this too via TM, then manually copy & paste the text from here to your main file.

  • Thank You Jerzy,
I think there are many ways to solve this kind of problem.
Actually, i have change the word type of the source file in a previous version, I have pre-translated the file and then, when i have generated the target file it worked. Finally, i have converted again the target file into the original version of word.
Thank you again for all the tips !
