Trados 2014 wordcount differs from Trados 2015 wordcount

Hi,

We are a translation agency and have Trados 2015. We sent 7 source files (not a package) to a translator who has Trados 2014 and the wordcounts are different.

The total number of new words are different but not the total number of fuzzy matches...

Does somebody have an explanation ?

Thanks for the help,

Vincent

  • Hi ,

I guess Ana-Maria may have wanted to share this one:

It won't answer your question directly but I would not be surprised at any differences. It's unlikely to be a bug and more down to changes in the products and how they deal with the different constructs of a sentence. To analyse it properly you'd need to do this:

    1. Look at the analysis in both versions and the type of content being handled in the project
    2. Check through the release notes of each version to see what changes there were
    3. Make sure that any options that could affect the anslysis in each case were the same, if available in both versions

Unless it's really important to identify the differences it may not be worth the effort and often it makes more sense to agree on one.
