"Cannot validate SDL plug-in" Studio 2015

Studio 2015 keeps crashing. It started with a message saying "out of memory server" and then I got blank Windows when I tried to use Studio commands. I decided to save my work, but then came the message "cannot validate SDL plug-in: sdl.desktop.Platform. implementation.... dll".

I went to the Windows control panel and launched a repair procedure but it didn't fix my problem.

Someone to help me out of this? I'm starting a very large assignment and can't afford to loose days before fixing this.

Thanks,

Ariane

  • In case my experience is useful, here's what is happening to my right now (I work with SDL Trados Studio 2017):

    Yesterday I worked all day and, out of the blue, one segment of a file made Studio crash. I realized this after trying a few times. The segment contained a euro symbol (€), so I skipped it and finished the file.
    When moving ahead to another file, Studio froze after 2-3 segments, produced the below error message and crashed. I managed to take a screenshot since there is no way to access the error message.

    ==================
    <ErrorMessage>
    Cannot validate SDL plug-in: Sdl.Desktop.Platform.Implementation.Exceptions.FilteredExceptionFilter, Sdl.Desktop.Platform, Version=5.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c28cdb26c445c888
    ==================

    I have tried resetting and reinstalling, unsuccessfully.

    Another weird thing is that I tried working with SDL Trados Studio 2014 (the previous version I have installed), and the exact same thing happens.

    I have made no changes to my system lately. I'm working on Windows 10.

  • Hi Andres,
    Monday, I lost half of my afternoon trying to solve the problem with a complete RESET of Studio and a RESTART of my PC. I seemed to work and yesterday afternoon, it crashed again. I had a support session this morning with the support team. Bodgan tried to fix it doing all sorts of things totally unknown to me. I made a Windows update following his advice. I took about an hour and I had just opened my Studio file and started anew the same segment when it crashed. I'm waiting Gobdan's response to my call for help !
  • I'm sorry for you!

    Please check my latest news:

    1. I tried working with SDL Trados Studio 2014 on another computer. When I opened it today, it crashed. I opened it again and it remained stable. I loaded my project without TM and termbase (since I still had to transfer them) and it worked. I was able to move around in the file. Then I loaded TM and termbase and it froze until now (some 20 minutes). No crash, the software is just frozen.

    2. After this, I went back to my main computer and, in Studio 2017, I loaded my project without TM and termbase. It was stable. Then I loaded only my TM and I have been able to work (just a few segments, so far, but it did not crash).

    * Weird fact: I am not able to use the undo shortcut (Ctrl+z) in Studio 2017 now. It worked before.

    You can try working without your termbase (move the termbase to another folder, so Studio cannot find it). If you also can work this way, maybe with have found the problem and can charge SDL a "finder's fee", lol!

    Best regards,
    Andrés
