Verify check in SDL Trados Studio 2017 - extremely slow

Question

Hello, 
 For the past month, we have been experiencing extreme lag with the Verify check in SDL Trados Studio 2017 to the point where we have had to do our QA checks elsewhere as our sessions have been freezing. Is this a known issue at SDL or what can be done to resolve it? This doesn't appear to be an issue with our 2015 licenses.

 You're very welcome! 
 If the installation of MultiTerm 2017 doesn't result in an improvement in your workflow, you can get free help from SDL Support with installation issues that are stopping you working normally, really quickly here: 
 Installation and licensing help 
 Fill in all the details required on the form and submit it. There is a box to select whether it is an installation or licensing problem. Obviously, select 'installation'. 
 Make sure your email address is correct or nobody will be able to contact you. You will receive an auto-reply immediately then they will contact you ASAP, usually within 24 hours depending how busy they are. 
 
 If that doesn't help, post again on this forum.

Just in case upgrading MultiTerm, which was a good idea, doesn't help it would be worth looking at the content in your files and what filetypes they are. If you still have the issue you can send the files to me at pfilkin@sdl.com for investigation.

 May I ask why you're not currently considering upgrading to Multiterm 2017? 
 If it is a question of expense, it costs nothing because it comes free with Studio 2017. All you have to do is download it once from your SDL account then install it on all your machines. 
 If it is a question of IT time, it would take no more time than that which you are already losing every time your verifications take too long. 
 Upgrading to 2017 is the only logical next step to take. If, after that, you find that the software is still taking too long to verify, then you will have a valid case to present to SDL and it will become their problem to solve. 
 If you do not install the MultiTerm version that is designed to work with Studio 2017, I would say that SDL has no obligation to provide an alternative solution and in fact may not be able to do so. 
 Do you see what I mean? 
 Apart from that, do try a Windows repair on both Studio and all MultTerm components after first making sure they're both up to date... Let me know if you need instructions for this.

Hi Paul , 
 
It turns out that all our issues go away once we disable the MS Word Grammar Checker plugin. Since disabling it, we have been able to run the QA checker as normal and it has also stopped an issue whereby approving a segment freezes Studio.
