Studio has suddenly stopped adding terms to my trusty termbase without giving me a notification. (Hence the many, many terms I thought I had added yesterday and today to my project don't exist :). "Add term" and " Quick add term" not greyed out in Studio, btw.

Also, termbase viewer window behaves erratically -- refuses to appear, or disappears after 10 seconds or so, or flashes (!) on and off. Most often "flags layout" or other layout options are greyed out, but even when I can occasionally select e.g. default layout, because I have docked/undocked a window etc. I still cannot add term.

Tried to resort to Multiterm proper instead, but no success at all. All that happens when I try to add a term is an empty tab labelled " [...]"

I have tried: resetting window layout, docking and undocking

I have tried: updating both Trados and Multiterm.

I have tried: creating a new termbase based on the old one

I have tried: using another termbase

I have tried: restarting Studio, restarting Windows, renaming folders under App Data/Roaming (both Trados and Multiterm), using Windows "repair program" options for both Trados and Multiterm.

At my wits' end -- I really need to get this sorted asap!

Any suggestions about what to try would be enormously appreciated!!!

Have you tried reinstalling? I would uninstall first Multiterm then Studio then reinstall Studio first then MultiTerm (both downloadable from you SDL account) then you can allow each of them to update.

You don't need to deactivate your license when reinstalling on the same machine.

If that does not work, you can then get free help with licensing and installation issues that are preventing you from working, pretty fast:

Select 'installation' from the 'Case type' dropdown and give your correct email address so that they can contact you.

They will email you and hopefully be able to connect remotely to your PC to diagnose the problem.

Hi Alison, thanks so much for your suggestion and apologies for the tardy reply! (sorry, I thought I would be notified about replies, but all I received was a "You have earned Level 1 Achievement" in response to my post...).
I just uninstalled the two programmes in the order you suggested, and reinstalled Multiterm first. I checked to see whether I could add or edit terms, but nothing has changed, unfortunately!. I will certainly proceed to use the installation and licensing help form now. Thanks very much for that link! I will provide an update as soon as this is resolved... Cheers

Hi again Alison, I did indeed follow the link you suggested, and was given a solution within three or so hours -- hallelujah! (The cure involved deleting lots of Windows temp files, quite a few folders under App Data/Local and App Data/Roaming, turning off Windows UAC in the control panel, then repairing Studio again. A big relief.
While I was very happy with the response I got once I logged the case, I wouldn't have been game to log it if it were not for your suggestion, so thanks again!!!

Hi Judith Pattinson,

I wonder why you didn't receive a notification of my post. You should have at least received notification that I had mentioned you in a post, because I added an active link with your name. Also, the 'receive notifications' box is ticked by default (as below) so unless you unticked it, you should have received a notification of my post also. You could check your email spam folder. If you're using Outlook or similar on-PC email software, you may have to check the spam folder on your online email interface.

Anyway, I'm so glad that the Help team were able to sort out your issue quickly. Thanks very much for sharing the solution here, it will help future users in the same position as you.
