"General error occurred" and "MultiTerm is unable to retrieve the multimedia object"

I get the above two error messages when opening the first file in a translation package I have recently received. I also get another message saying "Could not connect to the '[termbase name' termbase, so you cannot use it for term recognition.

How do I solve this?

I run SDL Studio Freelance 2017 on Windows 10. Both Studio and the OS are fully up to date.

Thank you in advance!

Luca

  • Hello ,

I am assuming you have received a project package (PPX) from your client?
It would be great if you could post the full error stack -as this can often help pinpoint the problem.
Also could you confirm whether the PPX package contains a local TB or whether the TB is held on the clients server please.

Hi Steven, I am attaching the error log - hopefully you can see it. The TM is local and yes, I have received an .sdlppx file from my agency.

  • Hi ,

This error message is originating from your TermBase (and not the Translation Memeory).
As i can see you have upgraded your current 2017 version. I will assume that maybe you have forgotten to update your MultiTerm installation possibly.
First remove the PPX project from Studio-
Then go to HELP in Studio 2017 and search 'Check For Updates'
Now do the same for MultiTerm 2017.
Reboot your machine- Start Studio (ensuring you have saved the PPX previously to the relevant folder) and now open the PPX via Studio (rather than simply clicking the package).

Does this now work for you?
