You can't remove the first "row", or the orange tab, but I do think Ctrl+Home should go to the first segment without having to arrow down as well.  This should be resolved in the software. 

In the meantime you could use an AutoHotkey script to make this smoother.  I'm not smart enough to do this so it uses the Ctrl+Home combination but I created a simple script that does mean you only need a single keyboard shortcut:

In fact you could add Ctrl+Enter for your usecase and have one shortcut to get you back to where you actually wanted to be ;-)

Something that comes to mind with this dilemma is why Studio relocates to the last segment where a term was replaced when one runs the "Replace All" command. Memsource does not do that. It stays in the original segment you were translating in and simply replaces everything other instance of the respective term further down (and above) in the document - and then one can immediately continue translating.

Neither does Memsource (and possibly every other CAT tool) even have an additional row at the top of their Editor screen, so Studio is actually complicating things here a bit.

What is the reason for the extra line at the very top having to be there?

I can understand if there's an extra line inbetween multiple documents within the same xliff, but not at the top.

There isn't an extra line, it's more of a header and it can show different information depending on the TagID mode you choose.  The problem is that Studio puts the cursor in there!

On the search & replace behaviour.  I checked back through various versions and 2011, 2014 and 2015 behaved the correct way always returning to where you left off.  The issue seems to have been introdiced into Studio 2017 at some point and is still there now in Studio 2019.  I'll make sure this has been logged for resolution.

I just realised that this issue has now been resolved with one of the recent service pack releases.

I just wanted to thank SDL a lot for making this updating.

It was a little niggle that wasted a lot of time.

I just thought to check in regarding whether the issue of being redirected to the last segment in which a term is replaced with a Find and Replace exercise has been fixed or not.

I'm working on a 60k+ project with 30 files open at the same time.

I'm using Find and Replace very regularly and every time it takes me somewhere further down into the multi-file project and I have to press Ctrl-Home and Ctrl+Enter to get back to where I was maybe 100+ times per day.

Is there perhaps an option by now in Studio 2021 that I'm not aware which could help prevent me having to incur all these "unnecessary" keystrokes all day?

Would be great if there's a solution to this!
