How to exclude CM segments from QA?

Hi all,

I was wondering, how I can exclude CM segments from the QA process. As far I can see, this option is not available in Studio 2017, but would be very practical.

Best regards

  • Hi

As far as I am aware there is no global setting to do this. However, here is a simple workaround:

With your document open in Studio 2017* onwards, use your Advanced display filter like this:

Trados Studio Advanced Display Filter dialog box with 'Context matches' selected under the 'Selected' column.

Click on 'Apply filter'. Only the Context Matches will then be displayed in the Editor window.

Click on the first number cell to the left:

Trados Studio QA Checker showing no errors or warnings for segments.

Scroll without touching anywhere in the segments, either with your cursor using the side toolbar or with your mouse wheel, down to the bottom.

Click on the last number cell without clicking anywhere else.

Trados Studio QA Checker displaying all green checkmarks indicating no issues found.

The entire filtered content will become highlighted. This can take some time.

Trados Studio QA Checker with all green checkmarks except for one yellow warning for 'Not translated'.

Either hit 'Ctrl+L' on your keyboard or right-click a number cell (nowhere else) and select 'Lock segments' from the dropdown menu.

    Clear the filter.

Then ensure that in Project Settings you have this box ticked:

Trados Studio Project Settings dialog with 'Exclude locked segments' option checked under 'Segments to exclude'.

As you will see, you can already exclude Perfect matches here also. Then you can run your QA Checker. The above will also work here:

Trados Studio Project Settings dialog with 'Ignore locked segments' option checked under 'Verification'.

    here...

Trados Studio Project Settings dialog with 'Exclude locked segments' option checked under 'Verification settings'.

and anywhere else you have set to ignore locked segments, such as in the Number Verifier plugin here:

Trados Studio Project Settings dialog with 'Exclude locked segments' option checked under 'Number Verifier'.

    Hope this helps...

    All the best,

    Ali

*In older versions of Studio, this can be done but maybe less accurately via the Review Tab display filter:

Trados Studio Review Tab display filter with 'Context matches and Perfect Match' selected from the dropdown menu.

Click on the dropdown arrow and select 'Context matches and Perfect Match'

Then click into the Search box and hit 'Enter' then continue as above.
