Trados Studio 2017: TM won't update and Translation results are not shown.

New segments are not added to the TM even though the Update checkbox is marked in the setup window. Also I have to click on Project Settings every time I want the translation results to be shown. I use Windows 10 and the latest package of Trados 2017. Any advice on how to solve these issues?

  • Hi

A screenshot always helps everyone get a better idea of what you're dealing with, so it would be great if you could share a screenshot showing your TM under Project Settings. The first obvious thing to check is to make sure that your TM is actually associated with your active project and not added to Options, for example.

What do you mean you have to click on Project Settings for the translation results to be shown? Do you mean that the translation results window is not visible at all times? Remember you can reset your window layout by going to the View tab and clicking the "Reset Window Layout" button, in case the window got accidentally moved somewhere.

  • Hello Nora,

Thank you for your reply. I uploaded some screen shots to try to make things clear.

The TM is associate with my active project.

The translation results window is visible all times, but it does not show any results even though there are results to be shown in the TM. However, if I click on Project Settings and then click on OK, it shows the available results. But the same thing happens to the next segment. I already tried to reset the window layout and nothing changed.

The TM only updates when I click on Add as New Translation. Otherwise, if I just tap Ctrl+Enter, the segment is not added to the TM. This is a problem because the keyboard shortcut for Add as New Translation does not work on my laptop. So I have to click on the button every time I want to add a new segment to the TM.
  • Hi Janisa,

    Just a few thoughts:

    - Have you tried disabling LookAhead?

    - If Add as New Translation works for you, you can set any shortcut you'd like for it.

    - I noticed something odd from your screenshots: the Studio icon shown on the upper left corner is for Studio 2015, but the program is Studio 2017. I've seen this before with a colleague who didn't have a proper Studio license and was experiencing all kinds of issues with the program. Getting the proper installation files and license from her SDL account solved her problem. Not sure if this is the case, but worth considering.
