This behaviour isn't by design. I work in Review mode most of the time and the Preview function works fine for me in Review mode so long as I have the necessary 3rd party software installed.

Try opening a file in Review mode and clicking on 'Reset Window Layout' on the View tab here:

If that doesn't work, try clicking Preview OFF and ON again here:

If that doesn't work, try a Windows Repair of Studio...

1. Close all SDL applications.
2. Open the Control Panel:
   • Windows Vista/7: Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
   • Windows 8: Right-click on the screen at bottom-left corner and choose Control Panel > Uninstall a Program.
   • Windows 10: Right-click on Start > Control Panel > Select View by: Small Icons > Programs and Features
   • - or type 'Control Panel' in the search line on your bottom Windows toolbar.
3. Click/highlight the relevant SDL product from the list (e.g. SDL Trados Studio 2017 SR1) and click 'Repair' either on the top toolbar or on the right-click dropdown menu.
4. Restart Studio.

I hope one of the above methods sorts this out for you...

It won't work with the italian interface, you have to choose the English interface it's the only one that hasn't this bug. In SDL trados 2019 SR2 it isn't corrected.

Did you try a Window Repair of Studio?

Do you have the relevant software for the format you want to preview?

Are you saying that the preview works in the English interface but not in the Italian?

If not, start a new thread explaining what the problem is then someone from SDL will be able to set up a case for you so that someone can look at your software remotely to see if they can find the problem.

Hello Alison

Don't be obsessed by the window repair, it doesn't work. The only interface that works in the case of the Paola problem is the English interface (not the italian). I don't have this problem I use the english interface only now, I was here to give the answer to Paola. Everybody can do a test with all the sdl trados 2019 versions to repeat this problem with the italian inferface, there is no preview in the Review mode. People don't know how to access the review mode this is why they don't understand Paola.

As you replied to a post that was over 3 years old, I presumed you were raising the issue again. My bad.

For information the bug exists with the italian and french interface, after I gave up and didn't try the other languages.

Bug also in Spanish UI.

We have ascertained that this issue does not occur with the English interface.

So the interim workaround for now is to use the English interface if you can cope with it.

The long term issue should hopefully be solved by the developers and I'm sure that, if it has not already reached the person necessary for a solution, that Paul will know the person to refer this to in order to find a solution.
