TM not updated although TM file recently saved

Translation memory apparently not being updated (TM doesn't recognise identical text further on in translation) but file properties show that TM file was saved last time I entered text in translation. Why?

  • Hi ,

Could you please give us a bit more details about the issue?

Let us check the obvious first, sorry if you've been through all this yourself by now.
    1. Could you please confirm that in the Project settings the same TM is set to be updated and used for lookup?
    2. Could you check if the translation gets uploaded to the memory after you've confirmed the segment (if the TM settings are correct, see 1.)?
    3. If you run a TM update batch task, is the TM updated without any warning messages?

Hoping to hear back from you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello, I'm new here, having just shelled out a small fortune for Studio 2021, and already have the same problem as Genevieve. Was this ever resolved? My answers are the same as Genevieve's. Having created a TM and successfully updated it after one translation, the next time I used it it took the segments from the first part of the next translation and since then has refused to accept any others from that or any other translation in the same languages, despite being selected as the TM for the job. I've checked Update, that's OK; tried realigning using the finished translation and importing to TM, no good; re-opening as a new translation, no good. The TM logs a new version each time I update, but the new TUs do not show up. Really frustrating for such a basic function.

  • It's always better to create a new thread rather than tag onto threads this old, especially if the original poster didn't respond and we have no clue whether they're sorted or not.

Yes indeed... and it is a really basic function.  It's likely you are either not using what you think you are, or you are not looking at what you think you are looking at.  When you create the new thread please share a screenshot of your project settings, and also a view of Studio with your file open in the editor showing no match where you think there should be one.  Then we can start to try and resolve your problem from there.
