Arabic punctuation issues when Exporting to External Review

Hello,

I've had an issue with Arabic files for a few months now. I'm using SDL Trados 2017 Professional and the Arabic .sdlxliff files I receive from my linguists are fine - the punctuation has no issues. However, when I use the Export for External Review function to get the translation in Word to send to client reviewers, typesetters or linguists who don't use a CAT tool supporting .sdlxliff files, the punctuation is all over the place - fullstops at the start of sentences instead of at the end. An example:

Why is this suddenly happening? I don't have this issue with any other language and it's not just one Arabic linguist's file - it's all of them that I had no issues with in the past.

    Hi Paul,

    I emailed you about this back in November and followed up in December but didn't hear back from you. This is still a regular issue for me. Can you please help? It essentially means that I can't use the External Review for Arabic files, meaning I have to Save Target As and then manually copy/paste reviewer's changes back into the xliff file which is not really ideal, especially when dealing with Arabic.

    Many apologies... I seem to have forgotten about this one.  I just updated the issue and will be sure to come back to you as soon as I get a response.  I don't expect it will be this long again... the issue still reproduces in the latest builds.

    Do you have the Arabic Language installed in Windows?  With Office 2013 and Arabic installed it seems to work correctly:

    As far as I'm aware. I don't have the problem working in Arabic files in general, only when I export the file in 2-column format. The only other option I can see to download looks like it will change Word to Arabic entirely, which if it does, I'll struggle to get it back to English...

    يمكن حل مشكلة علامات الترقيم  من خلال اضافة  أزرار إضافية إلى شريط الادوات 

    وهو زر (مجرى عربي و مجرى لاتيني)

    يقوم هذا الزر بإعادة ضبط النص العربي مع علامات الترقيم لتصبح بوضعها الصحيح.

    Thanks @aazzoma - this looks to be exactly what I need! I cannot find how to add that button to my toolbar in my version though. Do you happen to know the English name for the function, or could you provide the Arabic that appears under the arrows so that I can try to find out?

    Just to confirm, I just downloaded the full Arabic Language Pack, set Arabic as my default language in addition to my keyboard, and re-exported from Studio and the punctuation was still all in the wrong position. I cannot wait for this to be fixed for the project I'm working on, so for this one I'm back to sending the Target file and then copy/pasting any changes into the xliff file manually. Luckily, it's only an 11 page file this time but I'll be looking out for an update on this.

    I just wanted to confirm that we are not working on any fix for this because at the moment we don't seem to have a problem to fix... at least not in the eyes of the support team who cannot reproduce this problem.  I have not got the Arabic language pack installed so if I get some time I'll try to look at this and see if I can reproduce your issue with everythings set up as advised.

    Oh...a few days ago you told me 'the issue still reproduces in the latest builds' so I assumed this was something you were looking into? So, what can I do? I've scoured the internet for a solution on the Microsoft side but I only have this issue when exporting from SDL Trados.

    this is the solution for Arabic Language / SDL Bilingual Review
    -------------------
    The Arabic Language is RTL aligned and RTL Reading order,
    exported bilingual review from Trados doesn't meet these tow features, thus, Arabic characters displayed incorrectly.
