I do not know what it means exactly but I guess it should be more than the purely literal search.

In a way it does.  These settings relate to the ability of the verification to be fuzzy and which type of segments (Perfect Match, Exact Match, Fuzzies) to apply verification on.  But the original question referred to using regular expressions and plain text searches.  There is no flexibility in the terminology verification settings to create your own words or expressions to verify against.

Maybe I completely misunderstood the original question seeing as you clearly read this a different way to me?  I guess we'll know when Daniel Kartrud responds.

I was just wondering to see the screenshot. Nothing serious.
I am too far from good knowledge of SDL Trados Studio - it has huge functions within it.
