Just for clarification- is the 'project' a PPX package which maybe you have received back from a freelancer perhaps?

Which version of Studio/Office do you use and which version does your translator use?

Are you able to take the original PPTX- Open this as a single file translation in Studio and then SAVE AS immediately (without translating anything)?

Could you  post the full error message please- this often helps determine the problem-

I am having exactly the same issue. Opening the translated target PPT results in this error message, and the repair button does not fix anything. How do we fix the target file, or trados to generate a non-corrupt one? The error message comes from PowerPoint as follows: PowerPoint found a problem with content in XXX." Help?

I'm also having this issue with a .pptx file. The clean is corrupted, but we can generate a correct clean file when creating a project from scratch (the client sends the package).

Any ideas?
