Added files in existing project are not visible to other users

Hi,

I work with Studio 2019 (Professional Network). We are a relatively small team. We use GroupShare for our translation memories, but our Studio projects are file based.

We only just upgraded from 2017, and we are having issues with adding files to existing projects. One person adds a new file to an ongoing project, and the others cannot see that added file unless they hadn't had the project in their project list when the file was added.

Any person that didn't have the project in their list sees the added file. Any person that did have the project in their list cannot see the added file, even after someone else has worked on it.  Even after removing the project from the list and adding it again, or restarting Studio, the added file remains non-visible to the person who originally had the project in their project list.

Whenever the added file is non-visible, we can see the SDLXLIFF files in the source and target folders in Windows Explorer, but when we look at the File view of that project in Studio, the added file is just not visible, in source and target languages alike.

Is this a known issue? We have been using the new Quick Add Files feature; would using the other Add Files options solve our problem? Any idea on what the issue is? Would the GroupShare project management module solve that problem?

Thank you in advance for your help and input.

If you create a project on the server, the sdlproj file should also be created there. Then when you add files, it also should be changed there. But if the file is also open in other instances of Trados, I do not know what happens then. Maybe you could test the following: let your colleagues remove the project from their Trados instances. Modify the project by adding files and the let the open the project again.

I do not work that way, all my projects are on a NAS. But from what I remember, the changes done to such project with a laptop while the project file also being present in the Trados instance on the desktop were not visible. Trados Studio is designed to work locally and not to be shared via a file server.
