Trados 2017: when confirming a segment it takes a long time, but eventually the segment is not confirmed and does not move to the next segment

Hi,

I installed yesterday Trados 2017 new and MT. When I started to work I realized, when using "confirm and move to next unconfirmed segments" it takes a long time in which is seems that the program is working on this comman and confirming the segment, but eventually the curser remains in the same segment and does not move any further. I can proceed and go to the next segment by using the arrow, but that does not confirm. Anything could have gone wrong during the installation? First I thought that my connection might be to slow as I am working with Worldserver, but that cannot be the case, because that in the end the segment should be confirmed. Who can help? Thank you

  • Hi again

I've only just noticed that had already replied to you. In case he doesn't see your question straight away, here are an extra few tips:

As his screenshot indicates... In Studio, go to File > Options > Editor > Automation > After confirming segments manually

Then uncheck 'Enable verification of segment' which stops any of the tasks you have ticked under 'Project Settings > Verification' (and beyond) from being performed when you confirm a segment.

Where he suggests turning off the Grammar Checker, he isn't referring to the spellchecker. He's referring to a plug-in available on the SDL AppStore that checks grammar...

    MS Word Grammar Checker

If you have this installed, it helps to turn this off while working until you've finished translating then use it at the end along with the verification.

Then when you finish translating, you can run a spell check on the document via the Review Tab > Check Spelling (or by pressing F7) then a Verification via the Review Tab > Verify (or by pressing F8) and all the tasks you have ticked under 'Project Settings > Verification' and beyond will be performed.

I hope this extra information helps...

    All the best,

PS I won't check my Community messages for the rest of today as I have to focus on a big, difficult project I'm working on Wink
