  • Hi

I think I have understood your question...

You have to open the project first, by double-clicking or by clicking on 'Open Project':

Trados Studio screenshot showing the 'Projects' tab with 'Open Project' button highlighted and a list of projects named Project 1, Project 2, and Project 3.

Then you will be able to see the file/s and perform whatever tasks you wish to via the buttons on the top ribbon or via right-click on the file.

Trados Studio interface displaying an open project with 'Open For Translation' button highlighted and a file named 'test.sdlxliff' with 'Words' and 'Status' columns showing 'Unspecified'.

If you need instructions on how to use Studio, click on the 'Welcome' entry at the bottom right of your screen, then on the 'Get Started' tab in the central pane. There you will find links to documents and videos with instructions.

I hope this is the right information to help you.

    All the best,

  • Hi

Sorry I misunderstood your first question.

I'm still not sure what you are asking, as your two images are from different screens of the software.

However, the second screen is of your profile settings for batch processing and the OK button just enforces the settings you have changed, then closes the window. It does not process any file.

How did you arrive at the first screen you have shown in your first question?

What were you trying to do?

I hope that, with the answer to these two questions, I will be able to help.

    All the best,

  • Hi

Maybe Studio has not installed correctly. Can you run a 'Window Repair'? Maybe that will help...

First, open Windows Control Panel. If you don't know how, use the 'Type here to search' line next to your Windows icon:

Windows search bar showing 'Control Panel' as the best match app with recent and web search suggestions below.

with the Control Panel set to 'Small icons', click on 'Programs and Features':

Control Panel window set to 'Small icons' view with 'Programs and Features' highlighted among other system settings.

Highlight Studio 2019 in the list that appears and click 'Uninstall/Change':

Programs and Features list with 'Trados Studio 2019' highlighted for selection among other installed programs.

Then if you see a Windows prompt asking if you are sure, click 'Yes', then the following dialog should appear:

Uninstall or change a program dialog with 'Trados Studio 2019' selected and 'Repair' option highlighted in a confirmation prompt.

    Click 'Repair'.

If that does not help, come back onto the Community and ask your question in Japanese.

Then, someone Japanese should be able to understand the problem and help you.

    All the best,

  • Hi Alison, Just share info to you, I already know what the cause of the problem.

It's relate with setting Region Format of windows if not set to "English" error will occurs.

(This error occur with SDL Trados Studio 2019 only.)

  • Hi

Thank you for sharing that the Regional Settings not being set to English is causing an issue with Studio 2019 only.

can you report this to the development team or whoever can research and rectify?

    Hi

I don't think this can be the reason on its own.  We have many users who don't have English set in windows.  We'd need a lot more information than this so we can actually reproduce the problem ourselves.  Can you provide the  following perhaps?

    - language of your windows environment

    - version of your windows environment

    - details of your specific regional settings that you believe are the cause of this problem

That might help to get started.

  • Hi Paul,

From my test, I think this error occurs on every version of windows10 and windows7

When i setting "Regional format" not to  English such as image below:

Windows Settings showing 'Region' options with 'Regional format' set to 'Thai (Thailand)' highlighted in red.

Note: error will occurs after opening studio 2019 a second time.

Please let me know if you need more information.

    Thanks,

  • Note: error will occurs after opening studio 2019 a second time.

This would point to the old problem with Studio writing some of the values in the UserSettings file using localized format instead of English format.

One of the symptoms - present for many years - was that Studio did not remember the size and position of the application window and kept starting in the top left corner with a default window size.
This was caused by writing the window coordinates to the settings file using localized list separators (e.g. semicolons in my case) instead of commas.

The problem with window size and position was finally after many years fixed in Studio 2019, but it looks like a similar problem may have been introduced somewhere else.
Seeing that it's about SR2 build, I'm not really surprised - SR2 is rather a disaster in general...

  • I don't think this can be the reason on its own.  We have many users who don't have English set in windows.

I can confirm that simply changing the Regional Options to Thai on Windows 7 exposes the described symptoms - the Settings dialog (both Project Settings and the global Options) is unusable, it doesn't react to clicking anything in the tree pane, it doesn't react on clicking the OK button...
