this seems to me as expected behavior - after closing Search Window you are returned to the active segment where your cursor is. If you want to stay on another "page" as you are scrolling, you just need to close Search Window first. If there was a change - and it seems so - it was because until recently the focus was actually not moved correctly to next found item - as is now - found text was highlighted, but focus stayed on first match/your starting segment and you had to manually click the segment with found term.

thanks for the answer. Why Trados-Team invented this red cursor is still a mystery to me today.

BUT: I'm already writing something in the new segment. And if the search window is closed, that doesn't mean jump to the segment where the red cursor is. That's what the "Search" button is for.

In addition, the window closes automatically when you insert a new term into a TB, which then changes the editor view. This can no longer be understood by the user.

The look-and-feel has become even worse. One has the feeling that Trados does what it wants.

WoW, That is a Really Good functionality. Is this for version 2019 ? 

I'd like to have that version for the first time.

In version 2017, that sucks, If you close the "Find window" it quits at there (not at the start point).
So, If you are at the last stage of editing of big file, you lost, totally lost. I am using BookMark functionality to go back to start point but that is very very inconvenient.

and I have tried to make the same functionality with SDL API (computer programming route) but not have achieved it yet. Feels like almost impossible - especially I cound not catch ClosingEvent of the window..

This is a huge problem to me and other Trados users I have spoken to. Basically, I use the search window A LOT, and I always forget to close it. When I am switching to other windows, I do often end up closing the search window - note: at a much later stage when the search is no longer important to me, and then the editor immediately moves to a completely different place in the document (where I don't want to be). How can I disable this function? It is extremely annoying and happens to me AT LEAST once every five minutes. If I wanted to keep searching, I would have pressed F4. Please help!!!

P.S. I have Studio 2021.

Please tell us, how are you switching to other windows and what kind of windows these are.

I use Alt+Tab and usually I switch to Chrome. The reason why I close the search window at this stage is because, when using Alt+Tab, the search window ends up being in the way when I try to switch quickly between Studio and my browser/Word/other applications.

Well, the search window for any program like Word or else will be in your way, when using ALT+TAB. Try closing the search window before changing from Studio or press ALT+TAB one time more to go to Studio main window and not the search window. In my case that works perfectly.

The problem isn't only when I change windows. If I have used the search window, I usually immediately click in the target segment. Already after that, no matter when or how I close the search window, the editor will jump. Wouldn't it just be easier to remove this "bug" in the programme? Or why is it even there? I can't think of any situation where this would be needed.

It is a strange problem and TBH I fail to see any bug here. Honestly, I do not fully understand your problem.
