Hello,
I cannot generate target translation of a Word file because an illustration was moved between paragraphs due to merging segments.
Is there a solution for this, or I should re-translate the file?

I would suggest retranslating the file. You might be able to use the right-click -> update file to quickly resolve it.
I'd be interested in the files with some steps to explain which ones caused this? Would be worth logging as a bug if we can reproduce it with your files.

Unfortunately, I had to complete several translations, so I retranslated the files and I now cannot find the file/segment that caused the problem.
Nevertheless, one of my colleagues also reported a similar problem and this issue was also mentioned by Jerzy Czopik here:
Of course, retranslation might solve the problem but can be very painful if several changes (e.g. merging, splitting or editing) were made to the source segments.
Hello Paul,
I'm having the same problem with a very very long file... It's always so disappointing to have to retranslate everything (+merging segments and so on) and have the same problem on different segments in the new document.
I notice now that the problem seems to relate to segments wich contain tags named "shape name=". Merging them seems to be the problem... It's really painful !!
It is well known, that merging segments over paragraph breaks may be dangerous and you are doing this on your own responsibility. I understand, that it is very disappointing to have to rework the whole document, but you should have been more careful when merging segments. The best way is always to test the target after merging to avoid such problems.

I understand well... but here, it's a special problem due to a pdf that was converted into a Word document, with plenty of useless paragraph breaks...
I think it always pays off to clean a Word document converted from a PDF before opening it in Trados Studio. This is true regardless of the converter tool used, even if it's Trados Studio.
It's far easier, faster and effective to edit in Word than in Trados Studio.
By the way, thank you for your kindly message :-(
Thanks Jesus ! That's really the lesson I learned from this whole stuff :-)
The next warning sign... Converting PDF is nothing but complicated and should never be done automatically. And if done automatically, the resulting file must be checked before it goes for translation. Converted PDF does not only contain paragraph breaks, but also section breaks—and merging here is even more dangerous.
