Very scary error message

Hello,
I have SDL Studio 2019.
I am seeing this message. "AN ERROR HAS OCCURRED WHILE USING THE TRANSLATION PROVIDER".
This is after updating SDL Studio ten days after receiving an alert on the screen to do so. After doing the update, I was unable to open SDL Studio. It destroyed my main and large memory.
Support helped me quite quickly to get back in, but my memory was corrupted and unuseable. Support did not tell me if I can repair the memory or why this occurred.
I am now using an older memory before the update, and am now seeing this message!! This is very scary.
I am currently working with the program with fear, backing up all the time. I am afraid though that I might be backing up a memory that is also corrupt.
I believe this is a very serious bug. I have to say I never suffered from this disease before doing the update at the program's prompting..
After all, Trados is not just another software program. It works with a database, and if I can't trust that - I might as well go back to typing on WORD.
Thanks, Dafna

  • Hi Paul,

    None of the above.

I do have to say that the memory was a backup from an external drive, but it is sitting locally.

I have been working with Trados for about 12 years and using only one memory for everything. Consequently my memory is very large. I wish I could split the memory, but not sure how to do that.

Anyway, I find it very concerning that I am receiving that message. I just finished translating a 35,000 word file. Despite the message, nothing happened, but I was scared to death something would.

I would be happy to provide you with any more details.

Have to say that the problems occurred after updating memory and after updating SDL Studio. I can't remember which I did first.

    Thanks, Dafna
