Every time I try to save a new translation of segments it takes ages to save it and go on the next line and, most of the times, Trados becomes unresponsive and crashes.

This can be due to a number of things. Take a look at this thread:
There are lots of suggestions there that you can follow, both in the description of what the original poster had already tried and in the subsequent suggestions and the ultimate solution.
One or more of the items listed should solve your problem.

Just checking... by help desk do you mean the support team? If you have a support contract then that is absolutely the way to go.
If you mean the live chat then you should really investigate this problem in here as the live chat team are not a help desk for this sort of issue.

I see, Thank you, Paul. I did get this message from the support team:
As you do not have a support contract with us, we will be able to assist you with license or installation problems for Language Desktop products only. We normally respond to these requests within 2 business days. However, if you require a licence reset we will aim to respond within 1 business day.
I'll wait for them to try as I guess it's an installation problem. Hope they can help. I have no clue of what the problem is. I tried to repair it from Windows and I got this "fatal error during installation" problem!
I don't dare to do anything else ....

I am unable to find a support case for you- did you log a ticket? Do toy have the ticket number please?
From your account, it appears you are not using your own license and don't have a support contract- so as Paul already stated, you are right in trying to get help here in the community.
The following
"fatal error during installation"
is generally a Windows (not Studio) error and which suggest there are local issues.
Did you at the time also get an error code? this could help immensely.
I suspect Windows and or the drivers are out of date.
If you have admin rights (absolutely essential), then you should delete Studio from the machine and then follow through (don't miss any steps) the following troubleshooting guides (parts1 and 2)
If you have recently installed other software- please remove these and stop any background processes before ensuring everything is up to date.
